Fall Schedule
Here’s what I’ve got scheduled for this fall:
- CIT499 - Small Scale Digital Device Forensics
- CIT455 - Network Security
- CIT556 - Basic Computer Forensics
- ENGL421 - Technical Writing
As you can see, I’m going to be tracking down HACKER ON STEROIDS and other such scum and villainy. Should be fun, and with only 12 credit hours I’ll have lots of time to study.
Now I just need to get a parking permit.

Moving and Things
Moving update: Water is on, cable guy just hooked everything up (I have a ton of channels), no Internet yet (should be on in less than an hour) so I’m bumming off my neighbors, gas gets turned on tomorrow, electricity is under my name now, moving is about halfway done. I still don’t have a couch or stools for my breakfast bar. Still need to buy a few small things. Parents are bringing my bedroom stuff in a couple of weeks, so until them I’m on an air mattress.
One exam down, one to go.

Preparations
Ok, I can start moving in Wednesday evening. I’ve got most of my furniture and things ready for the move, and only have to get little stuff now.
I finally sold that arcade cabinet. I hope the guy who bought it gets more use out of it than I did.
Comcast is going to hook up our Internet and TV on Thursday. I’ve got an appointment for “sometime between noon and six”. Thanks Comcast.
I’d say I’m pretty much ready for my finals, so that means it’s time to start thinking about fall semester. Time to apply for a loan and get my books.
My cats are destroying my chair as I type this. I can only imagine what they’d do to an air mattress. They’re not allowed in my new room until I get my real bed.

Sallie Mae is Not Quite So Useless
Phew. Got that taken care of. I spoke with a competent rep today, and after explaining my situation very clearly, she got my loan put back in ‘In School’ status and reversed the late payment charges. I guess it all depends on who you talk to.

Sallie Mae is Useless
A couple of months ago, I got a letter from Sallie Mae saying that I needed to start repaying my loan. To me, this was puzzling because I am still in school and not supposed to start paying it back until after I graduate. I called them up and after an eternity of navigating their menus, got a real live call center drone who assured me that she had fixed the problem.
One month later, same letter. Called again. Explained situation. “Robert” from India assured me that he had filed a report and that the system would take care of it.
Today. New letter. Late fees. I am not happy. Call center is closed on weekends, so I emailed them. I’m going to call on Monday. Something tells me that no matter what I do, I’m screwed. This is very frustrating.
