My Billion Hour Work Week
I ran across this entry over at Bob Buskirk’s blog. Looks like Bob isn’t feeling very productive and has started keeping a log of his time spends working. His lament is that 20 hours per week isn’t enough, and that he needs to work more. Well, I’m inclined to agree. Let me share with you my average week.
Class
Being a senior at Purdue is tough. Assuming that I don’t skip class (and I haven’t yet this year), I spend 15.3 hours per week listening to various professors drone. Multiply that by 1.5 to account for homework, and it looks like I’m spending roughly 23 hours per week on school. Keep in mind that I’m being pretty conservative in my estimates about homework.
Job
Studying doesn’t pay the bills. I work 29 hours per week doing Windows server support.
Club duties
Although I’m no longer president of the Purdue DDR Club, I’m still an officer and have my responsibilities. I’ll say I spend about 4-5 hours per week working on club stuff.
Freelancing
I do server support on my own too (and make about 10 times as much). Due to my hectic schedule, clients are few and far between, so I’ll say I spend about ? hours per week on that.
Research
I have to spend ‘X’ hours per week ‘researching’ ’something’ I do for Bob. You’ll hear more about that eventually.
Gym
Physical fitness is a job too. I’d like to be healthy and functional when I get older, so I spend some time at the gym every week. Again, due to my class and work schedules getting in the way, I don’t spend as much time there as I’d like to
Girlfriend
Relationships are hard work, and I don’t spend nearly enough time with Steph. She understands though <3
So let’s see, that’s 23, plus 29, plus 5, plus unknown, plus X, plus frowny face, plus heart. Somehow I also fit 1-2 blog entries per day in there.
Yeah, I’m too busy.
